The calculations provided above are used in an ROI (Return on Investment) calculator to estimate potential savings that a school or district may experience by implementing Inner Explorer's program. The three categories of potential savings are suspension savings, teacher attrition savings, and chronic absenteeism savings which when summed up gives use the Total Potential Savings your District can save.
To calculate suspension savings, the user must input the number of students in the population and the percentage of students who received a suspension. The calculation takes into account the national average of 4.5 days that a student is out for suspension and assumes that Inner Explorer can reduce disciplinary incidences by 60%. The calculation then multiplies the estimated number of days of suspension by the $50 daily cost to the school to arrive at the potential savings.
To calculate teacher attrition savings, the user must input the number of teachers in the population and the attrition rate, which is the percentage of teachers who leave at the end of the year. The calculation assumes that Inner Explorer can reduce teacher attrition by 10%, and the result is multiplied by the national average cost to replace a teacher is $20,000.
Finally, to calculate chronic absenteeism savings, the user must input the number of chronically absent students (those who are absent for at least 10% of the school year) or the chronic absenteeism rate if the former is not known. The calculation assumes that Inner Explorer can reduce chronic absenteeism by 10%, and the result is multiplied by the national average cost of $50 per student per day of absence and 18 days (the definition of chronic absenteeism) to arrive at the potential savings.
Note: The default values provided in the calculator are based on national averages and should be replaced with more accurate values specific to the school or district being evaluated. By using this calculator, school administrators can estimate the potential financial benefits of implementing Inner Explorer's program.
