What happens when we dance mindfully at different speeds?
Put on a calm, peaceful melody, and move your body to the rhythm slowly. What sensations do we notice in our bodies? How about the activity in our minds- is it busy or distracted or sluggish or somewhere in between? Are there any emotions that show up with this slow melody- happy, sad, bored, thoughtful, etc?
Now put on a fast, bouncy, energetic tune and dance along with more speed and increased movement. What do you notice now in your body, mind, and emotions?
How might this awareness of the impact of music and dancing to different speeds help us to influence how we feel?
