SCAVANGER HUNT
(Early Learning & Elementary Age Level)
Let's go on a scavenger hunt!
As we take a walk in the neighborhood we live in, let's use our senses to investigate our surroundings and what is happening right now within us!.
First let's use our sense of sight
- Change- What do we see that looks like it might be changing? This could be a tree, an insect, something new being built or torn down, or even the stages of the moon at night.
- Color- let's name something we see of every color of the rainbow- red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple
Next, let's listen!
- What sounds of nature do we hear? Perhaps a dog barking, the wind in the trees, birds?
- What man-made sounds do we hear? Maybe a car, or plane overhead, or some sound of construction.
And finally let's pay attention to what we feel in our bodies
- What do we feel on the skin- maybe temperature, the breeze, the sun, or rain? Maybe we notice clothing or shoes?
- Do we sense anything in the body that could be a feeling? For example, happiness can be felt like lightness and energy. And sadness can sometimes feel heavy or tired;
- Are there any internal sensations we can notice? Maybe muscles moving, joints bending, or even our tummies grumbling. Maybe it's time for a snack!
